Capture your first point cloud with Lixel L2 Pro
Your First Scan
This guide walks you through your first point cloud capture with the Lixel L2 Pro.
Before You Start
Ensure you have:
- ✓ Fully charged battery
- ✓ LixelGO app installed and connected
- ✓ A clear space to scan
- ✓ Good lighting (helps colorization)
Step 1: Power On
- Insert a charged battery
- Press and hold the power button (3 seconds)
- Wait for the scanner to initialize (LED status indicators)
- Open LixelGO — connect via WiFi
Step 2: Configure Settings
In LixelGO, set your preferences:

| Scan Mode | 1mm (default) or 5mm for speed |
| Color | Enabled |
| RTK | If using RTK module |
Step 3: Start Scanning
- Position yourself at the start point
- Hold the device at hip/chest level
- Tap "Start" in LixelGO
- Walk naturally through the space
Scanning Technique
- Walk speed: Normal walking pace (unlike PortalCam)
- Path: Overlapping zigzag pattern
- Height: Keep relatively level
- Coverage: The app shows real-time point cloud
The L2 Pro is more tolerant of movement than camera-based scanners. Walk naturally, but smoothly.
Step 4: Monitor in Real-Time
LixelGO shows:
- Real-time point cloud preview
- Camera images
- Battery status
- Memory usage
- RTK status (if applicable)
Step 5: Complete the Scan
When you've covered your area:
- Tap "Stop" in LixelGO
- The scan saves automatically
- Review the point cloud preview
- Transfer data for processing
Data Transfer Options
Direct to LixelStudio
- Connect L2 Pro to computer via USB
- Open LixelStudio
- Import the scan data
- Process and export
To Splat Labs Cloud
- Process in LixelStudio first
- Export as PLY or SPLAT format
- Upload to cloud.rockrobotic.com

Understanding Results
The L2 Pro produces:
- Point Cloud: .LAS format, 1M points/m²
- Images: .JPG from dual 48MP cameras
- Trajectory: Device path data
