Enhance or fix specific areas of a PortalCam scan by fusing high-resolution photos using LCC Studio Premium
HD Enhancement
HD Enhancement is an exclusive feature of LCC Studio Premium (included with the PortalCam Premium Package) that lets you fuse high-resolution photos captured with an iPhone, smartphone, or DSLR directly into your PortalCam scan data. The result is a significantly sharper and more detailed Gaussian Splat — either in targeted areas or across problem zones that didn't capture well the first time.
HD Enhancement requires LCC Studio Premium, which is only included with the PortalCam Premium Package ($6,499). It is not available in LCC Studio Basic (included with the Standard Package).
Two Use Cases
Use Case 1: Enhance Specific Areas
Sharpen a particular object, surface, or architectural feature to a significantly higher resolution than the rest of the scan.
Examples:
- Architectural details, decorative elements, or facade features
- Hero products in a showroom
- Signage and artwork (make text readable and colors accurate)
- Premium finishes or materials in a real estate listing
Use Case 2: Fix Problem Areas
Correct sections that didn't converge well in the original scan — blurry areas, visual artifacts, or incomplete geometry caused by challenging lighting, reflective surfaces, or moving too quickly during capture.
Why this matters: Without HD Enhancement, the only way to fix a poorly captured area is to rescan the entire space. HD Enhancement lets you surgically fix just the problem spots with targeted supplemental photos, saving significant time on large job sites.
How It Works
- Complete your standard PortalCam scan and process it in LCC Studio Premium
- Identify the areas you want to enhance or fix
- Return to the location (or stay if you're still on-site) and capture supplemental photos:
- Use your iPhone, Android phone, or DSLR
- Capture 20+ photos minimum of the target area
- Maintain approximately 80% overlap between consecutive photos
- Capture from multiple angles and distances
- Fuse in LCC Studio Premium — the software merges the high-resolution photos into the existing scan
- Upload to Splat Labs Cloud as usual

Capture more photos than you think you need. More images give LCC Studio Premium more data to work with, producing a better blend at the edges of the enhanced zone.
