AI Floor Plans

Generate professional 2D floor plans from any Gaussian Splat scan in 15 styles

AI Floor Plans

The Splat Labs AI Floor Plan Generator turns your 3D Gaussian Splat scan into a professional 2D floor plan with a single click. Choose from 15 purpose-built styles for indoor and outdoor use cases β€” from architectural layouts to stormwater drainage maps β€” and get a live mini-map that shows exactly where you are in the 3D space.

How It Works

Step 1: Position and Clip Your View

Navigate to a top-down overhead view of your 3D scan. Use the clipping tool to isolate the area you want to convert into a floor plan β€” this improves accuracy and removes unwanted areas from the generated plan.

Step 2: Choose Indoor or Outdoor and Select a Style

Select Indoor or Outdoor to see the appropriate style options, then pick the style that matches your use case. Each style is purpose-built for a specific real-world workflow.

Step 3: Generate, Calibrate, and Use

Click Generate. The AI produces a professional 2D floor plan in your chosen style. Use the 3-point calibration system to connect the 2D plan to 3D space, enabling the live mini-map.

Indoor Styles (9)

Designed for interior scans of buildings. Each style handles furniture and fixtures differently depending on the use case.

StyleWhat It ShowsBest For
Architectural LayoutWalls, doors, windows only β€” all furniture removedAs-built documentation, permit submissions, space planning
Furnished Floor PlanAll furniture preserved as clean 2D iconsReal estate listings, property marketing, MLS photos
Space PlanningColor-coded rooms by function; furniture as light outlinesInterior designers, office planners, tenant fit-outs
Fire Safety / EgressExits, stairwells, and corridors highlighted in red/greenBuilding code compliance, fire marshal review, emergency planning
Measurement ReadyUltra-clean walls on white β€” designed for dimension annotationsAppraisers, assessors, contractor takeoffs
MEP / Utility LayoutFixed fixtures preserved (sinks, toilets, HVAC); movable furniture removedMechanical/electrical/plumbing engineers, facility managers

Outdoor Styles (6)

Designed for aerial and overhead scans of sites, properties, and construction areas.

StyleWhat It ShowsBest For

The Live Mini-Map

Once your floor plan is calibrated, it becomes a live mini-map embedded in the 3D viewer:

  • Real-time position tracking β€” see exactly where you are in the 3D scan as you navigate
  • Click-to-navigate β€” click any point on the floor plan to jump there instantly in 3D
  • Spatial orientation β€” always know your location within the space, even in complex multi-room environments

Calibration

AI-generated floor plan PNGs do not automatically include scale or orientation metadata. You must calibrate the floor plan using the 3-point calibration system to connect it to the 3D scan.

Calibration Steps

  1. Generate or upload a floor plan (PNG or JPEG)
  2. Open the Calibration tool in the floor plan editor
  3. In the 3D viewer, navigate to a recognizable real-world location
  4. Click Mark Point β€” then click the corresponding spot on the 2D floor plan
  5. Repeat for 2 more distinct, well-spaced locations
  6. Click Calibrate β€” the system calculates scale and orientation and aligns the plan

Choose three points that form a wide triangle (e.g., corners of a room) rather than three points close together. Wider spacing produces a more accurate and stable alignment.

Additional Capabilities

  • Custom text labels β€” add room names, area labels, and custom annotations directly on the floor plan
  • Room annotations β€” describe individual rooms and spaces
  • Upload your own plans β€” import an existing floor plan (PNG or JPEG) as an overlay instead of using AI generation
  • Edit in-platform β€” use the built-in AI editing tool to modify the generated plan before downloading

Downloading Floor Plans

AI-generated floor plans export as PNG only. There is no .DWG, .DXF, or AutoCAD export β€” the AI floor plan is a visual representation, not a CAD drawing.

Export formats:

  • Download: PNG
  • Upload (custom plans): PNG or JPEG

If you need CAD-compatible deliverables (.DWG, .DXF, .RVT), you need point cloud data from the Lixel L2 Pro. See Lixel L2 Pro for details.
